Getting Started
After many months of exploring the concepts of Play on Demand integrated Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTiPoDs, pronounced Nifty Pods), we are ready to begin promoting the Fair Trade Music Distribution Group (FTMDG). We read many articles that were written, about using NFTs to revitalize independent music composition and production, during 2021 and 2022. In summary, independent musicians wrote about how they were frustrated with the unlivable sums of money paid for their work. Recording studios were closing their doors in record numbers as musicians choose to record at home to save money, forgoing acoustically balanced recording environments in favor of cost reduction and releasing music to less discerning audiences. NFTs promised to be the answer, but the NFT market in 2022 proved that the accepted use cases for NFT were not applicable to music. Investors had begun to regard NFTs as only speculative, at best. Prices fluctuated wildly and during 2022, crashed altogether. Music NFTs were not mainstream and tended to be purchased as curiosities. Widespread NFT music distribution never came to fruition.
With the concept of NFTiPoDs that will change. Since we work with streaming services to integrate Play on Demand validation within their business models and offer earning opportunities to them and other music retail businesses, distribution of music with NFTiPoDs will overcome the problems seen by the early adopters of music NFTs. Because content creators will earn from each sale of their music, as well as through streaming revenue, we expect to see improved quality in music production, song smithing and touring, as well as increased availability of diverse musical styles.
Join us on this journey by encouraging your favorite musicians to consider distribution with PoD NFTs.
